Blueberry Coffee Cake
An ideal coffee cake studded with blueberries because blueberries make everything better. You can leave the blueberries out if you’re a purist but that’s no fun. This is not an overly sweet cake as it’s best served for breakfast or brunch. If you have an extra sweet tooth, an extra quarter cup of granulated sugar added to the cake batter wouldn’t hurt (at least in the short term), especially if you want to serve the cake for dessert. Coffee cake is best served with coffee, so I recommend you do that.
Deep Dish Apple Pie
As an American through and through, I almost feel it’s my duty to publish my ultimate apple pie recipe. If you’re looking for a recipe that diverges from the classic, look elsewhere. I’m not going to do that. The thought of adding cardamom or Concord grapes or nuts or oats or a crumble to my classic apple pie just doesn’t sit right. What I am going to do is give you the instructions to make the flakiest, perfectly spiced, most apple-y apple pie you’ve ever had.
Banana Bread
For some reason, I never downloaded TikTok at the beginning of the pandemic in spring of 2020. So I totally missed out on the phase when everyone was making whipped coffee, sourdough bread, and banana bread. I don’t know if people need another banana bread recipe, but this one that I’ve adapted from my aunt is killer. The hint of cinnamon bloomed in hot brown butter is heavenly. And it’s all made in one bowl by hand, so you can truly whip this out in no time at all.
